Don’t get me wrong; you can’t go defective with the established orange and black for Halloween. Especially in kid-oriented layouts, spider webs and jack-o-lanterns will always tell precisely the story you have in mind.

But now and again we forget that there’s more to this time of year than spooky costumes and candy. The ancient observances of this date, in both Christian and pagan history, remind us of two crucial things. One is that the spirit world is not as far got rid of from us as we normally assume. For pagan cultures, it was our ancestors who stood close to us on this night, reminding us that they had never genuinely left us, and for Christian cultures, it was the time when we remembered that all the saints waited for us to join in their triumphant celebration. Another primary theme of this night in both Christian and pagan cultures was that the world was getting ready to rest, to wrap herself in her blanket of snow and frost and sleep through the long night ahead, not to genuinely wake until spring, with either the equinox or the celebration of Easter.

If these ideas appeal to you, you might consider dissimilar colors for your Halloween layouts.

Silver, gray, black, blue, and white may convey a sense of mystery, of light in darkness, of safety in rest. Black and white pictures are idealisti for this sort of layout, but even color pictures of kids in costumes may gain from the more mystical themes.

The pretty fall colors of gold, brown, burgundy, red, and deep forest greens may show that the world is turning away from the bright colors of summer into colors more suitable to short, cold days, and long snug nights. Halloween is a symbol for this transition, and either of those color schemes may illustrate that transition.

There’s not one thing wrong with a established layout, and we’ll all do a great deal of them with magnificent results. But once in a while we might want to say something a little different, and the above ideas may aid you do that.

This is a very pretty blue figure. He’s a cheap figure to toss into your collection. That’s about the extent of the nice things I can say about the figure. He is a bit bigger than I had imagined, height wise, he’s rather skinny, but that’s fine. My biggest concerns are his weird attempt at articulation, which I guess might be fine if his foot actually fit onto his stand. I think if his foot would stay on the peg, you might actually be able to put him into a decent pose, maybe one that could accent his head-tail and hide his “I just stepped on a nail and I think I might cry” facial expression that reveals his sharp, tiny piranha like teeth and his oddly popping out of his chest Blue Lantern symbol. Also, his lantern looks nothing like shown in the picture, possibly due to his re-release.

This figure was really a disappointment, but like I said, he won’t put a dent in your pocket by any means, and maybe if you keep him in the packaging no one will notice his stupid mouth and pointy teeth.

Great item, but….

I was really happy to see the quality of the figure was beautiful!

The thing that made me a little mad was the picture on amazon shows him holding the lantern he’s supposed to have ((small almost nonexistent cones, and a short flat top and bottom)) the lantern that comes with the figure is just a repaint of Hal Jordans lantern ((large cones with large top and bottom)).

Over all the paint job is astounding, the way the light reflect off the shiny blue and the dark black. It’s articulation leaves much to be desired but if you’re a collector like me, you’ll just leave it in the box anyway!

Lucky he is a Saint

This figure’s sculpt and paint are excellent but, I can’t get the figure’s foot to go in the peg on the stand, which make me real angry, and the figure seems very fragile. A must have to complete the color spectrum of heroes.
